7 Highly Effective Steps To Beat Procrastination

So in the last post we explored why people procrastinate, since understanding something is the first step to conquering it.

So what can we do?

1. Turn off your devices.

Don't panic, I don't mean indefinitely. You can take it off and set a timer when you want to put it back on. Some people complain that they can't take off their phone completely. Well then, take off the alerts, so that they don't distract you.

It may be hard at first, but you will get accustom to not being summoned by your devices constantly.

You will slowly start regaining time to get what you need done.

2. Make a To-do List

Your first step is to get organised. Make a list of all that needs to be done. Try to prioritize the activities. So the most important things get done first. The most importance thing is often also the hardest activity to do. So get it out of the way first.

3. Break up Large Tasks

Sometimes large tasks can feel overwhelming and naturally we have a tendency to want to put it off. So break the task into smaller more manageable segments. Little by little you will get it done and feel a sense of achievement along the way.

4. Schedule your activities

You need to assign times to your tasks. You can use your calendar on your phone or computer, so that an alert goes off when you need to start a job. This is an excellent measure to keep you in check.

5. Tell a buddy about your deadline

The plain truth is if someone other than you knows about your deadline, you are more likely to meet it. Your friend will most likely remind you and encourage you to get the job done. It's a wonderful system to keep you on track.

6. Schedule your breaks

I mean you want to get things done, but you still need breaks. The point is to not let the break go on longer than necessary.

7. Reward your progress

When you finish a task, reward yourself for completing it. This will serve as an internal incentive to keep propelling your forward.

So get going Potentials. Procrastination does not have to hold you back from achieving your goals and realizing your dreams.

Cheers!
