Silence the Noise
Sometimes, there are so many voices and opinions, that it's difficult to hear your own voice.
Those around us, even though well meaning may seek to impose their opinions and will upon us.
The truth is the opinions of others could never be your truth, not really. You may agree on things, but no one has the exact same view of the world as you do.
As a young adult, the importance of friendships and belonging was extremely important, but as the years went by, my focus turned inward. I started focusing on my needs and not simply doing things that would make others happy. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and family, but I was woefully inadequate when it came to self care and I paid the price for it.
In order to be the best that you can be, you have to know what you really want, know who you want to be and where you want to go.
This requires introspection and spending times with your thoughts. To know yourself, you have to spend time in your own company. You need to silence the noise.
As children, we were eager to please our parents, our teachers. We were conditioned in this way, while we learned what was acceptable behavior in our society.
However, as we enter adulthood, we truly need to know what we really want. Adulthood is challenging, in fact every phase of human life has its challenges. That is the nature of life. Many have reached middle age and beyond and still struggle to find their footing.
The fact is the faster you figure out your path, the faster you will live the life that you were meant to live and achieve what you were meant to.
We live in an age where there are so much distractions, our smart devices, a plethora of entertainment options and social media platforms that summon us with a system of alerts.
However, true meaning in our existence will never be found in these gadgets.
You need to silent the noise.
Becoming your highest self, is sometimes a very lonely journey. You can't take all your friends with you, not everyone is meant to share your journey and not everyone will understand.
So find joy in the journey, celebrate the progress that you make and continue moving forward!
