7 Habits That Are Stopping You From Achieving Your Goals
Are you sabotaging yourself?
Are you standing in your own way?
What are you doing that is slowing you down or preventing you from achieving what you want to achieve?
These are some questions that you need to ask yourself if you want to get ahead or stay on track.
Sometimes you need to take a long tough look at your life and decide what you really want and if you are willing to make the sacrifices that are necessary.
The truth is, all of us have habits, that we know are not healthy or positive, but we simply can't seem to kick them.
Let's take a look at the top offenders:-
1. Too Much Alcohol
While I am not opposed to a drink or two with friends on a Friday. Overdoing it on the booze, can rob you of your get up and go. When you drink too much, you slow down and your focus is compromised. Let's not forget the morning after hangover that kills any chance of being your best the next day.
2. Smoking
Let's not beat around the bush. Smoking is an awful habit. The more you smoke the more you have to smoke. You always have to stop what you are doing to feed the habit. At the end of the day, smoking leaves you with diminished lung capacity. It can leave you with a smoker's cough and increases your chances of developing lung cancer.
3. Self-Doubt
Some of us are constantly doubting our abilities and second-guessing ourselves. You need to get into the habit of moving forward without fear. So what if you fail. It is part of the learning process. More valuable lessons have been learned from failure than success. So believe in yourself and keep moving forward.
4. Bad Company
It may seem cliched but the old adage" show me your friends and I will show you who you are" still holds true. If your friends and associates are not progressive, chances are they are not going to support your progress. So associate with like-minded people. Find your tribe.
5. Messy Surroundings
Some may argue that creatives are messy. However, when you are trying to be goal-oriented, a messy workspace is not doing you any favors. Half the time you spend looking for stuff to get started! Clearer space means clear thinking. Clearer thinking means more ideas.
6. A Counterproductive Routine
We, humans, are habit-forming creatures and when we get into a self-sabotaging routine, it can really diminish our productive progress. If you get up at 10, then have a leisurely bath, have a long breakfast, flip through your phone checking your social media pages, chances are you are not going to get started anytime soon. So start cultivating some habits that work for you instead of against you.
7. Negative Thinking
The fact is if you believe nothing good is going to happen before you even try, nothing won't. You may not be into all the energy theories but the fact remains what you project is what you are going to get back. So practice seeing what you want and expecting that you will succeed and see what happens. It certainly can't hurt.
So potentials, if you start working on eliminating what is holding you back, the faster you will achieve. Start small, look at one on the list, and focus on conquering it.
Good Luck!
